Artist's Comments

This is a new work of mine for my second year of Collage Level Art ...(im currently a senior in highschool) ....it is done in ink and cheap roseart colorpencils ...yop...oh and the scanner made it weird....the tiger in much brighter and more yellow and orange then brown...but it looks ok that way too so I didn't tuch it.

yay! SUPER detail. i dig the very ancient indian feel to it. kinda like the jungle book. <3

yeah, i use rosarts sometimes. They mean well, but are just kind of...crappy. Yet affordable!

My advanced critique? Hmmm...

Well, though we are not all familiar with tiger speciation, I would have liked to have seen a commitment to a certain subspecies. Northern tigers will be different from southern mainland tigers, which will be different from the island tigers (worthy to note white tigers are not a subspecies, but a genetic mutation). Minor details, sure, and you may not be looking for that sort of thing, but background research is always beneficial.

Second, I would have liked to have seen a bit or white at the back of the forelimbs and the underside.

Other than that, I love it. The color is vibrant, the style is simple, yet delightfully ornate and it really draws me in. Excellent work.

thank you ^_^ my problem with then was the fact that they keep rubbing off after time. Since I spent a few months on this I had to re-do a lot of areas.

Wow very interesting comment. I should have used reference of some sort for this work because every part of it is totally made up. Next time I'll make sure to be more specific on the subspecies of the tiger because I do know that they all have different characteristics that set them apart and since the setting looks to be in India (even though the bamboo is out of place) I should have drawn the species native to the area. Thanks for the comment, it was very helpful ^_^.

It is completely up to you, but I would say that should you demonstrate at least some level of concern for subject or environnmental accuracy that some background research would be adventageous.

Keep up the great work.

Wow you put a lot of detail into this, I'm very impressed :D The way you colored and outlined it reminds me of those glass window things (the name escapes me at the moment). I love the use of bright colors too, cheap pencil crayons or not!

One thing that I would point out is that the sky seem inconsistent. It looks like you shaded each part individually instead of the sky as a whole. The graduation from light sky to dark sky should be the same for all parts. But this looks great, be proud of yourself :D

Yay ^_^ thanks, I'm glad you like it. I will fix the sky and make it better. :XD:
